SCENIC SUNDAY

After antiquing at Queensville we decided to take a tour.

Let's take a tour along the the north shore of Lake Simcoe.

Hedge Row

All along this road the hedges are so well maintained.

Many of these gorgeous cottages have been passed down from generation to generation.

Then we came upon this church St George the Martyr  and grave site.

Built in 1876 and refaced in 1944

Turns out that Stephen Leacock the well known writer was buried here.

Stephen Butler Leacock, FRSC was an English-born Canadian teacher, political scientist, writer, and humourist. In the early part of the 20th century he was the best-known humorist in the English-speaking world.

You see that Stephen Leacock is well known and most of his background is Orillia, Ontario.

This was his summer home.

We presumed that was where his resting place was as well.  So what a surprise when we stumbled
upon this wee church in the middle of the cottages.

The grave site

and the view from the grave site

was so calming and beautiful.

What a beautiful place and view of the water.

As we continued on our journey we spotted these cute bird houses.  The funny thing was these
chipmunks were trying to get into the holes and the Purple Martins were chasing them out.

Can you see it top left?

I have never been close to Purple Martins before and was quite intrigued.

I want to build one and will they come......

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour around Hedge Row.
